Blog » Costa Rica Beaches

When you think of Costa Rica, it is extremely likely that the first thing that springs to your mind
are all of the beaches in the area. In fact, Costa Rica is often described jokingly as “just one
big beach.” You might think, however, that all of the beaches in the area are one and the same and that
it doesn’t matter which one you choose. That is very far from the truth, however. There are beaches
in Costa Rica that are far superior to the others and that you’ll want to consider visiting above all else.

The Manuel Antonio has long been deemed Costa Rica’s “most beautiful beach.” Pristine, sparkling blue
water, golden sand, and always-perfect weather are the trademarks of this exciting beach. Lots of great
resort hotels line the area, making it the ideal spot for tourists. Plus, there’s always something going on
at Manuel Antoino. Opportunities for diving or snorkeling lessons, surfing, kayaking, hiking, and ziplining
all await you when you choose to make Manuel Antonio your beach of choice. We just can’t recommend
it highly enough! Plus, there are local parks and other areas nearby that are very easily accessible, even
to the inexperienced traveler.

We also love Montezuma. This is the beach where the truly artsy crowd hangs out, and nothing boring
ever happens here. If you want to sip a beer amongst the natives, long haired Rastifarians, surfers,
painters, and other artistic souls, this is where you go. Tattoo and piercing shops line the boardwalk, live
music always plays, and delicious vegetarian cuisine is within easy reach. In fact, you’ll be so busy taking
in the sites and relaxing with likeminded people that you’ll have to remind yourself to just take a step
away from it all and appreciate this wonderful beach’s natural beauty.

Tortuquerio is the choice for the real nature lover, however. You can see all of nature’s beauty up close
and personal with a canoe tour through the jungle canals, a stroll down any of the many hiking trails,
or even on a guided safari. Get up close and personal with exotic animals such as the giant manatees
and the green sea turtles. These beautiful creatures get close enough to touch, and you’ll have picture
and memories that will last a lifetime. If you like to be outdoors and you like to explore nature, then
Tortuquerio is the place for you.

Of course, this is just a sampling of the many, many beaches in lovely Costa Rica. We recommend that
you take the time to read about and research all of the beaches in order to find the one that’s truly the
best fit for you. We know you’ll make the right choice!
